I am the wife of Scott Weaver who was a KA at Louisiana Tech in the late 80's and early 90's. Scott died yesterday morning 10/25/08 at Baylor hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was diagnosed in 1999 with CML leukemia and had a bone marrow transplant in 2001. The cancer was taken away but the rejection of the transplant hit hard especially over the last 5 years. Scott entered the hospital on October 13 with pneumonia, dehydration, high heart rate, low BP, and malnourishment. He fought very hard to stay with us.
Scott talked so fondly of his time at Tech and at the KA house, and his KA pictures tell a WILD story of their own. Last year we spent a week camping at Lake Bisteneu, and we spent a day at Tech. He showed our 11 year old son, Ian, his old stomping grounds, the KA house, student center, library, and the places he lived. It was an awesome day. Ian has decided that where ever he goes to college it must have a KA fraternity like his daddy had.
I am not sure what can be done to get the word out about Scott passing, but I know you could help if you're able. He loved his fraternity. Some of the guys he mentioned often were Buddy Collins, Paul Sheppard, Mike Frendal, Danny Kelly, some guys first names or nick names I recall: Ashley, Ernie, and the good looking guy Mike that got all the girls, etc. There are so many more but my mind just can't recall at the moment.
You are all invited to attend services. The viewing will be Monday 10/27 at New Hope funeral home from 6-8 in Sunnyvale, Texas 500 E. Hwy 80 (Yes, the same 80 that goes through Ruston just 4 hours west) If you are not able to attend, the funeral home has a website www.newhopefh.com that will create a slide show of Scott and an area to write a message. That should be up by Monday or Tuesday. The funeral services will be at First Baptist Church Forney 1003 College St. (FM 741) Forney, Texas 75126 at 11:00 am Tuesday 10/28.
